The TAKCOM Grunt was designed with first responders in mind. The handle was made larger and wider for a stable and firm grip during operation. Furthermore, the handle is machined with opposing patterns for grip. The blade was kept simple with the highest utility blade styles, drop point and wharncliffe. Last but not least, the seat belt cutter at the end was designed for emergency situations.

I purchased this knife with the drop point blade and couldn’t be happier with the decision. The M390 blade came razor sharp out of the box and even after several days of heavy use the blade is still sharp as hell. The blade mechanism is solid and operates smoothly, the handle fits comfortably in the hand but is still large enough to operate with thick gloves if needed. This is the second premium OTF I have purchased from TAKCOM and it won’t be the last. I highly recommend this knife if you’re looking for a larger OTF that can handle anything you need it to.

I purchased this knife for use at work (Ambulance Service). I bought the grunt because I work for a hospital based service and no weapons allowed is the policy. However since it has the seatbelt cutter it’s not a weapon it’s a rescue tool. 😁 My only complaint is that I have large hands and the spot where the seatbelt cutter is located tends to pinch a little. I do wish the lanyard hole was a little wider as it could be used to open the oxygen tank on the head of my stretcher. Possible remove the lanyard hole and put a place on the side of the handle for an oxygen wrench would work also. ( not sure that would be feasible with a OTF.)
This seems like it will be a perfect work and utility knife with the wide sharp wharncliffe blade made from M390. The handle with the seat belt cutter adds a little extra length and provide a good grip. Excellent quality, it is picture with an Ultratech and UTX85 for size comparison.
