TAKCOM‘s Nighthawk V2 OTF knife was designed to improve on the stealthy spirit of the V1. Same straightforwardness and no-fuss mentality, the V2 has a machined notch in the handle for a smoother pocket clip installation. Furthermore, we made the switch to be less aggressive and smoother to operate. We also improved on the V1 by upgrading the blade to 154CM to have better edge retention and more resistive to corrosion.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” – This goes on to say we didn’t change the stuff that people loved from V1. We left the switch on the face of the handle because it gave leverage for blade deployment. It makes it easier to activate the knife and retract the knife. For spear point style blade, it allows ergonomic carry whether you are right-handed or left-handed without worrying about the pocket clip position.

**The Tanto style blade will not be operable for left-handed user. The clip is not reversible.

The Nighthawk V2 is TAKCOM’s largest OTF yet. If you are looking for a different size, click here

I'm very pleased with this knife. This is actually my second TAKCOM knife. A week before I purchased "The Stinger" from the TAKCOM.com sister site. I was so happy with that one that I quickly purchased a larger model. In the attached photos, The Stinger is the smaller knife on the bottom; the Nighthawk V2 is on top. I bought The Stinger as a my new EDC knife to replace a 20+ year-old Leatherman Wave that was just too bulk to carry anymore. I can clip The Stinger to the top edge of my pants pocket and it stays out of the way. I bought the Nighthawk V2 as my at-home utility knife. I liked the fact that I could have a combined full-edge straight blade and a full-edge serrated blade. Again, this replaced the two blades in my now-retired Wave. Now, I don't really understand the metallurgy of the blades, but I can say that both knives came sharp enough to shave paper with amazing ease. They definitely seem higher quality than blades of my $10 promo pocket knives. Due to a Black Friday promotion, the Nighthawk also shipped with a "TacKnives OTF Double Action Safety Knife – MT9DP (Drop Point)", which normally sells for $69.95. I mention this to compare the premium Takcom Nighthawk to a "regular" TacKnives offering. First off, the MT9 by itself is a solid knife that also shipped with a super-sharp edge. However, compared to the Nighthawk, it is very clunky: the casing is a heavy Zinc, and the blade seems chunkier as well. The steel used on the Nighthawk is listed as being of a higher quality and should hold a sharper edge longer. The MT9 features and emergency glass breaking point that is not present on the Nighthawk. I prefer the location of the switch on the Nighthawk. It is easier for me to access on the flat of the handle than on the edge. While both knives are large enough that I would not carry either in my pocket on a regular basis, the aluminum-handled Nighthawk V2 is noticeably lighter. I should note that these are my first automatic knives. All three feel very sturdy, and I do not feel that the blades will snap or the mechanism will fail. One final note: The Nighthawk V2 is shown with "silver" screws. Mine shipped with a small baggie containing alternative black screws, so that is an additional aesthetic option.

  1. VERY nice knife, high quality from materials to finish!

  2. Great well made knife. Fires well with minimal blade play. I do have an issue with the retraction of the blade. It’s really hard to pull back the blade into the handle. I do not know if this is normal or a defect. Dinged one star for an otherwise nice knife.

  5. Excellent safety features so it doesn’t open up in Your pocket and cut you. The grip is firm and is very comfortable. I am very happy with the purchase.
