TacKnives’s first button lock folding knife is named Penchant for exactly what the word means, something you desire and want to reach for over and over again. The Penchant is built on ball bearings which makes it extremely smooth to open and close the blade. The user has the option to use the back flipper or simply flip it with a wrist action when pressing the button lock.
The Penchant construction features a G10 scale and 14C28N blade steel. With the drop point blade profile, it allows the user maximum control and precision when using the blade.
Please note that the Penchant is a button lock folding knife. If you are looking for OTF knives, please clip here.
What a fantastic knife! Out of the box, the Penchant came with a buttery smooth action with a satisfying click when both deployed and folded. This knife is wonderfully fidgety.
The Penchant is a large knife providing more than enough handle length for my large-sized hands. The G-10 scales provide sufficient grip for everyday use.
The Penchant’s blade is super sharp and extremely slicey, and with 14c28n blade steel, I expect it’s durable edge to stay sharp for a long time.
So far, I am very impressed by the Penchant and plan to use this as my primary EDC for the next several months.
Butter smooth, works very well. Probably one of the better knives tacknives sells. I believe they used 14c28n steel (also primarily the steel Kershaw uses) on this knife vs d2 On a lot of the other ones.
14c28n steel doesn’t rust as easy, its easier to sharpen and get a finer edge, though it may not hold a razor’s edge quite as long as D2 tool steel.
Clean action, no break in period, perfect tolerances, and shaving sharp right from the factory. Very satisfied as always.
This is my first TacKnives knife. I found out about it from 704Tactical and it’s pretty fantastic. It’s got a smooth action and is really solid with no play at all. I’m no knife expert but this does everything I would expect an EDC knife to do…except maybe a glassbreaker/belt cutter. I love the button lockup and the multiple options to deploy the blade. I’ve already bought 2 more TacKnives and will probably buy more if there are designs that interest me since the materials seem to be top quality.
The knife arrived quickly and came in a really nice carrying case, the inside has a lot of soft padding. The finish and edge on the blade is comparable with knives that are nearly double the price. The blade is sharp enough to glide through paper and has no blade play at all. It locks up incredibly sturdy. The only complaint I have is the flipper on the back doesn’t deploy the blade all the way on mine. It is a great knife and a definite buy at this price.
