TacKnives introduces the ultimate box cutter that will revolutionize the way you work – the Fatboy Box Cutter! This particular unit is the TacKnives Automatic OTF Knife Box Cutter – Fatboy Purple with Grip Tape. This automatic knife features an out-the-front (OTF) design that allows you to easily and quickly extend and retract the replaceable SK5 blade with just one hand. The credit card size and pocket clip allow the user to conveniently carry it in the pocket. The super sharp and replaceable SK5 razor blade will cut through anything from cardboard boxes to thick ropes and more. Say goodbye to the frustration of dull blades and the gunking up of OTF knives. Whether you are working in the warehouse, garage, or workshop, the Fatboy is a must-have versatile EDC tool.

Suggested Replacement Blades:

The automatic action is fast and crisp and I have no reason to believe it will not last as long as other automatics. The blade holder and disposable razor blade are lighter than an actual blade, so you knows, the action may last longer because of it.
I don’t have a lot of trust in automatics, having 1 fail on the first day of a deployment because of the fine sand there. To me they are fun fidget toys with a serious wow factor. People are fascinated by automatics, and I am no different.
My only qualm with this is texturing of the handle and of the activation button. The grip tape is super grippy and with it facing into my pocket it grips the clothe, making it a little slower to remove and will tear up my pocket. The grip is hard on your skin too, so if you are using it a lot it may help you to either sand down the grip tape a little (being mindful of the anodization on the aluminum frame, if you want to keep it pretty longer) or filling in some of the space in the texture with super glue. I will be be applying a layer of super glue to the grip tape to see how well it makes the texture less aggressive. I may have to fill it in with super glue and then sand it down some to get the texture that I want.
The activation button has pretty sharp edges on it so it will tear your thumb up some, if you are playing with it. It would be an easy fix with a diamond needle file, but that also removes the anodization, so I will need to weigh what is more important: aesthetics or comfort.
I may buy another one of these, but will go for a milled aluminum handle next time. The texturing on the one with the skull in the middle seems very promising, but I would really prefer to not have a knife with a skull or other mall ninja magic on it.
I would definitely buy one of these again, but you should be aware of some issues that you may have, to see if this is the right automatic utility knife for you.
Exactly what I was looking for at great price. Fidgeting for 2 days and no failures. Nice kit
