TacKnives Sunspear is my first budget knife design, and honestly, it was one of the most challenging projects I’ve worked on.

Designing budget knives turned out to be much harder for me than designing premium titanium knives. With premium knives, cost isn’t as restrictive—you can add more details, experiment with materials, and really push uniqueness. With budget knives, cost becomes the main constraint, which limits what you can do. On top of that, the budget knife space is extremely competitive, so making something that stands out felt really hard.

The Sunspear took about a year from concept to final product. The initial drawing was based on another knife I was developing at the time, and it went through several rounds of prototype iterations before everything felt right. Throughout the process, Kunwu did a fantastic job bringing the design to life.

In the end, I’m really happy with how the Sunspear turned out.
