The TacKnives Slugger is an oversized OTF that leans toward a classic aesthetic while offering a notably larger, wider profile than traditional OTF knives. Built to the same tight tolerances as other TacKnives OTF knives, the Slugger is a high-precision, high-quality piece. Its larger frame requires a beefier spring, which makes deployment a bit stiffer, but the result is a remarkably forceful, reliable deployment. The handle is machined from T6-6061 hard-oxidized aluminum, and the blade is vacuum-heat-treated D2 steel — premium materials for durability and performance. I swear, the quality that is being offered here for the price. Nobody can compete! This is hands down the best value in EDC.

Solid case. The blade is fairly sharp. I can make it sharper. The mechanism is quick and the button to trigger it is very strong. Requires a strong thumb to trigger. The blade is long and there is a tiny amount of blade play. I think it is well worth the price, which was not too expensive.

I’m new to OTFs, this one was on a deal, so I picked it up. It is attractive, the blade is extremely sharp, and it was impressive that it came in a case and with a bag of spare parts (alternative colors for the clip and screws). The action is powerful with no failures to fire (so long as not blocked), there is some play back and forth and side to side but seems normal for an OTF that wasn’t designed to be zero play. Unfortunately a couple days in, I was removing it from its included holster and one of the handle scales fell off, didn’t look like there was much glue holding it in. I applied some glue and got it back on, hopefully it will stay put, if not, will epoxy it.

One of the better OTFs out there, period! So I own just about every single premium, OTF automatic knife. I own microtech, heretic guardian, you name it. This is by far one of the best I have come across, dollar for dollar. It does have a little bit of a stiff throw to it, but if you’re a man complaining about how stiff the switch is on your knife, I don’t know what to tell you. I am Absolutely blown away that this knife is less than $100. Mine even came with a belt holster and multicolored spare parts to include a spring and extra switch. The photos on this website do not do it justice. In fact I almost didn’t buy this because I felt like the photos on the site made it look kind of cheap. It is anything but cheap feeling and looking…this thing is gorgeous. I included some photos of it with some premium OTFs I own and as you can see, this things holds its own weight and is a fraction of the cost.

Awesome knife, feels like a $400-$500 otf. It fires hard and has excellent lock up with very minimal blade play. When these are back in stock I'm definitely picking another one up and maybe a few more for gifts. One of the best knives offered by TK.

  1. Great quality craftsmanship on the knife for a good price, mine shipped out quickly and I’ve had zero issues so far! The action is smooth and the size is great for use with gloves or large hands. The blade steel is tough and holds an edge well.

  2. Strong knife, a little more blade play than a Microtech. Did not receive replacement spring as shown in every video.

  3. What an excellent knife. TacKnife makes such amazing knives and this knife does not disappoint.
