Blade Sharpeners for Under Fifty Dollars
You get what you pay for, is how the saying goes. But is it true? There are always exceptions to the rule. For example, we have eating some of the best food at local, inexpensive mom and pop restaurants. Our favorite pair of Wranglers retail for less than thirty dollars and most importantly our EDC knives are some sort of knife from Tacknives. We find quality in budget friendly and are here to share the wealth of knowledge. Blade sharpening systems can range from a few bucks to a thousand dollars. As a consumer ourselves, we want to make our buck stretch. Here are five tried and true blade sharpeners for under fifty dollars.
Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener
This Sharpener comes in at 49.95 for the basic style. They do have two upgraded options as well. With a four in a half star rating, this sharpener is often out of stock. If you can get your hands on it (it took us a few tries) then consider yourself lucky.
To us, it is intuitive to use, and we did not relate to the bad reviews that were given. However, we do manipulate the system to do our own custom angles. I guess you could say we didn’t use it as it was intended. None the less, we still use it.
Lansky Deluxe 5-Stone Sharpening System
This sharpener comes in at 44.95 with four in a half star user rating and is used in our ‘How to sharpen a knife’ video. Included in this system are extra-coarse, coarse, medium, fine alumina oxide, and extra-fine ceramic hones. The system is color coded and comes with honing oil.
We do not use the clamp that the system comes with and free hand the sharpening.

This sharpener comes in at 4.95 with another four in a half star rating. This sharpener is for on the go only or quick touch ups. This, in our opinion, should not be your go to blade sharpener. It is perfect for hunting, fishing, and camping when something light weight and compact if what you need.

Coming from Harbor Freight is a good ol’ Sharpening stone. We have several of these laying around shop. We add a wood non-slip base that we create out of scrap wood. At only 2.99 it works for us and has never let us down.

In the 20-dollar price point this knife retails at 26.99. With another four in a half star rating this sharpener comes with a two-sided sharpening stone allowing you the ability to cater your sharpening to the specific blade steels. What we like about this sharpener is simple. It works. It will sharpen your blade. There is also the convenience factor of not having to build a base for the stone.
