TacKnives – The Viper
Designing a budget knife is always a challenge. With premium knives, it feels like the sky’s the limit—there’s so much you can do to make them interesting. But with budget knives, cost becomes the main constraint, and that affects almost every decision.
With the Viper, I wanted to create something lightweight, affordable, but still not boring. I usually lean toward more complex handle textures, but those add cost quickly. This time, I challenged myself to keep it simple while still making it feel unique.
The goal was something slicey, comfortable, and reliable—a true hard-use everyday carry.

Really good knife especially for $49. Tac knives is becoming one of my go to companies 🤙🏼
A good full size slicer. My first knife here was the Sunspear, which is a great knife. The Viper is my second and I like it as much as the Sunspear. The Viper is also a full size knife but is much thinner while still feeling comfortable and sturdy. I’m looking forward to future knives from these guys. They also shipped my knife the very next day! Awesome
Awesome budget banger. Love the size. Super sharp out of the box. The only thing with mine is the detent is a little soft and makes doing the reverse flick a little hard. Not an issue if you don’t fidget with your knives like I do and it’s a really minor issue. It’s a great knife for the price.
How do you guys always turn a budget knife into a BANGER at this price point!! The tuning and acoustics is as good as any of my $400 knives. I love the jimping on the entire length of the crown. Just a phenomenal knife all away around. Don’t stop what you’re doing!!!
Its comfortable, sharp out of box snd very slicey because of the thin edge
