This is a very well made knife, good strong action, very sharp and has a nice weight to it.

When I first bought this I was a little hesitant, just one review and almost nothing on the web about the shepherd. With the 20% coupon it was around 190$ so still pretty expensive at least to me. I really like it, smooth action, light weight, nice fit/finish, ambidextrous, no “glass breaker, sharp, good steel, deep clip. Lockup is good with some play every direction with out and in play being the worst. Far less then the cheaper ones. Size is similar to the Lighting and about 1/2 ounce lighter at 4 1/4 ounces. Lots of good choices in the 230$ mark, this is a good one but the LiveWire is lighter and made in USA. I chose this because of the traditional blade shape, cheaper price (coupon...) and it doesn’t look like every other otf like the livewire does. For size reference I wear a size medium glove is always too small and large a little big. Hand fits perfect on the shepherd though. Rock on!

I just received this Takcom Shepherd last week. Excellent build quality, snappy action, and locks up solid with very little blade play. The only thing I'd change is to add some jimping/grooves on the belly where your pointer finger rests. Solid 9 out of 10.

This is a very nice build with a thin handle that is also wide enough to be hand filling similar to a Troodon. Nice pocket clip with just the right amount of tension, and a wide drop point M390 blade that came shaving sharp. I like the feel of it better that the Ultratech and UTX85 it is pictured with for size comparison and the thump switch deployment is much better on the Takcom Shepherd. With a 15-20% discount it comes in at right under 200 and is equal if not better quality than the major OTF makers.

  1. very good quality, well made and nice action.

  2. Amazing knife. Good strong action. Very sharp out the box. Little blade play. No misfires and have been fidgeting with it all day long. Highly recommend.

  3. Excellent otf! I have over 35 high quality otfs and this by far is my favorite great job takcom 👍
