Description

TacKnives MTU8 OTF is a large OTF, however it is on the smaller side of our large OTFs. MTU8 is a simple but very beautiful knife. The whole knife is produced by CNC machining. Every part is very precise which results in minimal play on the blade.

MTU8 is equipped with an EDC stainless steel pocket clip and a ballistic window breaker. The blade of the knife is made from 7CR17 Carbon Steel and is of Tanto style.

This is a quality knife. I collect knives and have several hundred in my collection, about 20 or so are OTFs. A number of my OTFs are from China and most of those are also quality knives but many are also very heavy at about 8 ounces. For an OTF, over time my criteria has included weight and my preference is between 3 and 4 ounces. At 3.4 oz, the MTU8 is perfect. The knife feels heavy but is relatively light. Blade material is not the absolute best but will certainly do the job. Machining is very good. My only complaint would be the effort that it takes to deploy the blade. It has a nice sound on launch but a heavy ‘clack’ on retraction, indicating a very strong spring, which facilitates a firm launch. Very little blade play… almost unnoticeable. The Tonto blade is wickedly sharp on arrival. The belt carrying case is a bonus, as is the special screw removal tool. Nice work, TacKnives. I even like the somewhat oversized pocket clip 🙂 I consider this knife a quality addition to my sollection. I will certainly be back.
