This is a pretty solid OTF for the price. The action is really solid and the construction is nothing to sneeze at – there was, however, a problem that keeps me from giving it 5 stars.

Despite having a solid construction and good ergonomics, the deployment action was extremely subpar on arrival. I would push the slider all the way forward and it would fail to deploy. I opened the tool up and found that this was because the latch wasn’t being pressed down far enough to get past the catch on the blade – since there was some wiggle room, it sat at a deeper angle than I imagine the company expected. I ended up using a diamond stone to grind down the latch a millimetre or so to allow the blade to deploy as intended.

Again, I’m very happy with the overall quality, but the lack of precision causing such a critical failure of function which could have easily been caught in testing was disappointing. It only took me about 10 minutes to fix and I love tinkering, so it wasn’t too much of a drawback for me, but it does mean it may not work out of the box for a casual hobbyist looking for a purchase that works out of the box.

Ultimately, if you intend to get this knife, make sure you have the tools to fine-tune it so the action works properly. Hopefully others have better luck than I did! It’s still a fun, sturdy little knife that for me was worth the money.
