TacKnives MTU5 OTF series offers various blade styles. The body of the knife is black with a window breaker at the end. The OTF switch is located on the face of the handle. Many users find that when the switch is on the face of the handle, the action is a lot smoother and easier. If the blade is double-sided, then the knife is operable by right-handed or left-handed. If the blade is one-sided such as Tanto or Drop Point, then the knife is only operable by right-handed because the clip is not reversible.
The middle insert is black G10.
MTU5SDE is offered with double edge D2 blade and all black accessories.
Good fit and finish. Looks even better in person!
Update: I had some issues with the knife after I sent my review. First issue was it’s stopped retracting completely. It would get about 3/4 of the way in and stop. I ended up just taking it apart and found that the bottom spring lock was out of wack. I put it back in place which fixed the issue. The second issue was the glass breaker ball fell out at some point. Not a big deal for me, but not ideal. All in all, I wasn’t stoked about the issues, but it could have been due to shipping. I still really like the knife and the company, but I had to knock a couple stars off.
Nice quality build! Fit and finish comparable to much more expensive knives. D2 blade is a bonus. Knife is solid and weighty and coating is non slip. In sum, pleased with purchase and would recommend without hesitation.
